On May 10, 2007, the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies held an outreach seminar in Batumi – “Raising Awareness about European Union in Georgia”. The host of the event was Batumi State University.
The study seminar was devoted to Europe’s Day, celebrated on May 9th, 2007.
The project participants presented following topics to the audience of students, aspirants and university professors:
1. History of EU integration and the enlargement cycles. Mr. Vasil Chkoidze, Center for European Integration.
2. Institutions and foreign policy of the EU. Mr. Sergi Kapanadze, the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies.
3. European Neighborhood Policy and Georgia. Mr. Kakha Gogolashvili, the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies
4. EU’s relations with its neighbors, the case study – transportation policy. Mr. Archil Gegeshidze, the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies.
The Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies expresses its gratitude to the State Minister’s office for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration for its help in organizing the outreach seminar, as well as the rector of the Batumi State University, Mr. Vladimer Balavadze, for his cooperation.
The outreach seminars will be continued in different regions of Georgia, in order to raise awareness of wider publics about the EU integration issues throughout the entire country.
