On February 28, a meeting of Georgian expert and analytical circles was held at the Rondeli Foundation with Mr. Shinichi Kitayoka, a former adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan on foreign security issues, who also headed the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as its president in 2015-2022. Mr. Kitaka spoke at length about the goals of Japan’s modern foreign policy and the stages and important aspects of its formation. In his speech, Mr. Kitaoka also touched on such important topics of global politics as Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, China’s influence on international security and stability, Taiwan’s independence and security issue, Japan’s foreign policy in the wider Indo-Pacific region as a whole, relations with Europe and Georgia, the Day of Cooperation order.
Ekaterine Metreveli, the president of the Rondeli Foundation, and Akira Yamamura, the Japanese ambassador to Georgia, addressed the audience at the meeting.
