On January 22, 2007 Peter Semneby, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus visited the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies. He gave the speech about the EU and Georgia, with regard to conflict resolution. Ambassadros Semneby had visited South Ossetia and Abkhazia earlier, and he related to the variety of views in those regions, including the desire for European integration. Following Ambassador. Semneby’s remarks, a discussion with the audience touched on the nature and intensity of EU engagement in the conflict-resolution processes, how EU-Russia relations affect Georgia, and the European Neighborhood Policy, and Georgia’s prospects for EU membership.
