The overall objective of the 12 months long project was to open a second track of interaction between Georgia and Russia and through this contribute to finding solutions for the long term and sustainable peace. The project purpose was to make a sustainable effort to build a nucleus of the confidence oriented experts in both countries. Further, the existing group of the Georgian and Russian experts engaged Abkhazians and Ossetians in the dialogue.

The project entailed debate on the future of Georgia-Russia relations, wrote of joint Policy Papers, discussed of the policy papers at the regional meeting of experts in Istanbul and disseminated of the elaborated papers, reports and the recommendations through the GFSIS bulletins in seven Black Sea countries, as well as posted it on web-sites, and communicated via media directly to Governments of Georgia and Russia, as well as Abkhaz and South Ossetian authorities.

The project was funded by European Commission and administered by UNDP through the Confidence Building Early Response Mechanism (COBERM).
