On November 19, 2016 Director of the Center for Financial Stability and Competitiveness at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (GFSIS), Prof. Merab Kakulia and Director of EU Studies at  GFSIS, Mr. Kakha Gogolashvili met with the Head of Friedrich Ebert Foundation’s South Caucasus Cooperation Office in Georgia Dr. Dietmar Dirmoser and the Regional Coordinator, Ms. Julia Bläsius.

The parties discussed the overall economic performance in Georgia: trends of economic growth, foreign investment perspectives, employment opportunities and the export potential of the country. The special focus was set on implementation capabilities and the feasible social-economic benefits of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) Agreement with EU. Within the frameworks of DCFTA instruments, Georgia can direct the regional trade potential in favor of its economic growth and social transformation, Mr. Gogolashvili said.

The Senior Fellows of GFSIS outlined the future cooperation perspectives with Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The German counterparts expressed openness to contribute to much wider public discussions and exchange of expert opinions and recommendations to eliminate institutional gaps and foster economic development and sustainability in Georgia.
