On September 23-24, 2010 the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies hosted a meeting between the Steering Committee of Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum with Georgian Civil Society. The meeting was attended by 40 Georgian NGOs. During the meeting Steering Committee members discussed Eastern Partnership goals and prospects. Special attention was focused on tasks and future plans of the Civil Society Forum. The dialogue also stressed the importance and the necessity to support establishment of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society National Platform in Georgia. The role of the Civil Society in fostering the process of the European Integration was also discussed.
The welcome speech was delivered by Alexander Rondeli, President of GFSIS. Mr Siarhiej Mackievic the Chairman of the Assembly of Pro-Democratic Non-Governmental Organizations of Belarus and Spokesperson of the EaP CSF made an introduction on behalf of the Steering Committee. Tamar Khidasheli, President of GYLA and the Member of the Steering Committee welcomed the meeting participants as well. The meeting was moderated by Kakha Gogolashvili, Director of EU Studies at GFSIS and the Member of the EaP CSF Steering Committee.
Latter Deputy State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Tamar Beruchashvili joined the meeting. She reported about the Government work within the EaP Multilateral Platforms and responded to the number of questions posed by the Civil Society representatives.
The meeting was followed by a reception.
