The Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (Rondeli Foundation) hosted a webinar to discuss the recent developments in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
Following the finalization of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal, global attention is now focused on the next steps in this complex process. Although the announcement has been widely welcomed, further actions are necessary to ensure long-term peace. Azerbaijan’s leadership has emphasized the need for formal agreements, expressing distrust in verbal commitments, particularly regarding the amendments to the Armenian Constitution.
Is Armenia prepared to meet these demands? What obstacles remain in achieving long-term peace between the two nations and in the broader Caucasus region? Should peace be achieved, what would be the potential benefits for Armenia? Additionally, the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan could pave the way for a potential breakthrough in Turkish-Armenian relations. Could this shift contribute to a further diminishment of Russia’s influence in the South Caucasus?
